Overview
Drought is a complex natural and slowly developed phenomenon related to the temporal aberration of water availability at a region. Drought is generally considered, and therefore treated, as natural hazard; a phenomenon that can impact health, create property damage, cause social economic disruption or environmental damage, and result into life losses . Drought is often called “creeping disaster” since it is difficult to monitor its development, whereas it complex system has ambiguous influence boundaries.
To address this challenge, a dynamic web application was developed aiming to monitor the drought occurances in Greece. Real-time meteorological data are provided by the weather station network of Meteo.gr.
