WMO/ITU/UNEP workshop on "AI for Natural Disaster Management"
On October 24th, the International Telecommunication Union organized a workshop on "Artificial Intelligence for Natural Disaster Management" in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), hosted by the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Posts of the Ministry of Digital Governance, Hellenic Republic.
I was an invited speaker on the "AI for Forecasting and Projecting" session. In my talk, I presented results on the seasonal predictability of floods and droughts over 34,500 European river systems and exemplified the usability of Machine Learning tools to identify the drivers that are linked to their predictability.
My presentation "Understanding the drivers controlling the seasonal predictability of floods and droughts over Europe" can be downloaded BELOW.
